The road to a better life

What is a better life for you?

Different people have various answers to this question depending on their life values and experiences.

Some will say that being wealthy is a way to a better life. You can buy your dreams if you have the huge income. Investment companies will give you nice packages of security benefits to attract you to put your money in them and let their fund managers do the work for you.

Some business entrepreneurs will convince you to engage in business ventures as a way to escape from the struggles and stress of being employed. Depending on how it grows, having a business will allow you more free time for other productive pursuits while you earn.

Others see high-paying jobs as a means of a better life. This is the reason why parents strive to give their children a sound education. But only those with means can give their children to the best schools and colleges and schools in acquiring higher education? What about the rest?

Not all people are rich, of course, so face challenges in sending their children to school.

Nonetheless, if they can instill the values of perseverance and diligence in their offspring, these are the people, who, more often than not, can rise above poverty and reach the top.

Here are our own insights in gaining a quality life:

Have hope in God.

Why should we have hope? Better yet, in whom should we have hope? Our hope is in Jesus Christ. He has plans for our good, to give us a better future and a hope – either in this life or the next.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead

Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.

Hebrews 6:19 We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain,

Lamentations 3:24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.”

Be strong and courageous

Being courageous empowers us to fly high and soar above our trials and adversities.

Zephaniah 3:17 The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.

Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Deuteronomy 31:6

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

1 Corinthians 16:13

“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.”

Trust God

With God nothing is impossible so we put our confidence in Him.

Psalm 28:7

“The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.”

Psalm 62:8

“Trust in him at all times, oh people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us.”

1 John 5:14

“And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.”
